Alright another week, more art.

Spent this week working on taxes, con scheduling and trying to organize a few things. So not much art post this week. I did do some sketches and started a necklace but nothing really worth showing.

I did at least a few cards from the Fandoms of Stupid Years Past series. This week it's the rather painful for me to admit series of Fushigi Yugi.

This was a series that looking back on I have no idea what I saw in it. Well besides the fact that there were 4-5 attractive (sort of) male characters who were there for eye candy. The lead was vapid and stupid, her only skill was getting kidnapped and having all these guys fall in love with her. Her romantic lead was also rather boring, and the plot was hideous.

It is as an old wiser person that I suggest, that if the story of a girl getting sucked into a magical fantasy land that may or may not have ties to Folkloric China sounds like something that interests you, watch 12 Kingdoms instead. Seriously 12 Kingdoms is so much better.

That being said, here are Miaka and Tamahome, the leads of Fushigi Yugi in the only way I remember them.

And in other hopefully less stupid news, here is some progress on the Project

Welp another week, more art, more boredom.

More wonderland concept sketches. Caterpillar still not quite right, and a card guard, also needs some work.

More art and a new side project explained under the cut )

Also more page layouts on The Project - I think I'm sort of getting the hang of this.

So anime director Satoshi Kon died of cancer on the 23rd of August.

For those of you who don't recognize the name (I honestly didn't recognize it when I first read this news) he was the anime director for, among other things, Perfect Blue, Paprika, and I suppose Lacy would hurt me if I failed to mention Tokyo Godfathers (one of her favorites which I haven't seen).

I'm not going to say too much, since I don't know much about the man but respected what work of his I'd seen. He was an unsurpassed storyteller and he definitely will be missed.

Shine on You Crazy Diamond.

Posting to say I've revamped the journal abit. Not sure if I'll keep things exactly like this but I felt it was time for a change. This also is abit closer to the colors on my art site which was something I felt needed to be.

So school has kicked up, I only have half the text books I need, which blows but the rest are shipping, VERY SLOWLY. If I'm lucky the books will be here in time for my mid terms. I could have sworn we paid for shipping but you can't tell from the speed it's going at.

With summer over I'm now working weekends only, sadly they've scheduled me for like 30 hours a weekend. I close two days in a row, then on Sunday I open AND close. One of my co workers asked me when I was doing homework and I did my best not to laugh maniacally. If things get to bad I may have to talk to my supervisor about it. I hope he'll be understanding, I know we're short handed but...I am beginning to run on a solid diet of soda, coffee and tea. If things get too hectic in classes I have no clue what I'm going to do.

Anyways, on a lighter note I finally got to finish watching Speed Grapher. I watched the first disk with friends on Spring Break and just this week got the chance to finish it. I enjoyed the series immensely, it was an awesome series for more mature individuals. I say for mature individuals since it had alot of sexual themes, alot of nudity and some f-ed up visuals. It used an odd fantastic element (the ability for someone to become what they deeply desired) as a sort of catalyst to explore concepts of greed and lust...also as an excuse for lots of explosions and crazy fights.

Once one gets over the initial wtf-ery of the show it has quite a decent storyline and characters. The main character is a badass photographer who fought evil monsters and greedy creeps with the power of an SLR camera and his need to make things right (or need to photograph dead people I dunno). Whoever wrote this checked up on his camera-fu and that wins points in my book anyday. I am currently working on a fanart concept for the show though I tend to be really picky about my fanart designs so this could take a while.

So yea, if you have an open mind and a strong constitution I highly recommed this one.

Anyways off to go sketch some shit.

So I just watched part three of the OVA. I'm also avoiding looking my drawing homework in the eye once again, so here's a review.

SEARCH AND DESTROY! SEARCH AND DESTROY! )

Overall, another awesome ep. Minor details I missed but all and all solid entertainment and quality production all around.

Now to see if I'll get around to review episode 2.

Help me....kitty wants to play...I've played with him for TWO hours...still energetic as hell.

In other news, hung out with Lacy and Karen, Azumanga Daioh was amazingly entertaining. Need...more...please.

Also found out why the format is so splintered, really odd that. It's based on a short weekly comic strip format manga. Each little anecdote bit is a strip, one of these was broadcasted everyday. These were later compiled together and shown on weekends as the episodes with the credits and all.

In other news, Lissa is broke and unemployed. It's now open season for commissions and print selling. So if you know anyone interested send them over. Also in the event you have a friend or loved one who likes porn reading ninjas, FLCL or dapper looking skeletons and such mayhap they'd like some art for Christmas.

Also if someone could help me get a paypal account that'd be awesome.

Well on a completely random note from a conversation with a friend I decided to try to watch the Darkstalkers anime. I liked what I've heard of the franchise and decided to learn more. Plus I was bored as hell.

With very little effort I managed to find some really really shitty rez episiodes, most of the time the sub titles are ledgible, the only problems I have is when Pyron and his bright ass self is on screen. Then I just pretend he's speaking Martian and I didn't need to know anyways.

Seriously digging that crazy ass zombie guy, that was some fun shit. Donovon is unfortunately much like D, quiet, stoic and self loathing. Though when D does it he's running around in sexy armor, Donovon just looks stupid. The chinese twins are awesome, Morigan is only there for like five minutes and doesn't really do much.

In other news, I'm going to be one of those crazy ladies with a shot gun and lots of cats. That is my future, I better start doing target practice to prepare myself.
