Greetings folks.

Sorry for the radio silence, I've been rather introverted lately and been working mainly on a commission project. Also I did have some plans in the works for Foolish Mortals 6th birthday but all of them have seemingly fell through. So this means there hasn't been much to post or comment on. The commission work I may show at some point but not anytime in the foreseeable future.

My introversion however has come to something resembling an end. After a very long bout of unemployment I've started a part time job. Considering I think my scanner is on its last legs I am so very very happy to enter the land of somewhat steadier pay.

Not too far into the job so I've just been in basic training though in the end I'm going to be in the framing department. It's retail, nothing amazing but it is at a craft/art supply store so I am not completely out of my element. So far my only major concern has been that somehow I'd do something stupid and awkward and they'd realize they hired a woman a few cats away from Crazy Cat Lady and boot me out the door. So far I've been doing a fair job with my "Responsible Adult" act we shall see how long this lasts.

Anyways on that note, here's some art posting.

Working on this for a new business card design.
Not sure if this is going to be the only card design or if I'll have other designs in the run. You know, for the people or occasions when skeletons are not wanted.
Not that I can think of any situation that isn't improved by a skeleton in a top hat. I've heard they exist though.

Clicky clicky for more images )

Also in other news, The Project is sort of up.
Not very far along and it has no set update schedule at this point but I figured I needed to start releasing pages out into the wilds before I edited them to death.

Anyways that all I have to say right now. I'll probably post more updates as I can around the 21st.

I haven't been doing much personal work lately, been focusing mainly on commission work so what little personal work I did get done is practice/warm up/studies to get back on working on The Project. So with that said, here we go.

Click on for the finished piece on dev-art
The preview on here isn't the complete final final version.

More of Tannis and the Ropemakers Daughter. Not sure why I drew this one but it was a nice exercise and it was strangely soothing to work on.

Guess what movie Lissa saw this weekend.

Well - at least me and the muse compromised. The Muse wanted mermaids and I wanted to try to get back in the swing of things to get The Project up and running again. So Tannis and Spider get to come down to the oceans and meet a mermaid. Thankfully Tannis seems too distracted to wonder where the hell all this water came from.

For the record, no, The Project will not have mermaids in it, there are no large bodies of water in the skies to house them. I think it's better for all involved, I sort of need Tannis alive to have wacky adventures.

I had this sketch laying around for a while and decided to transfer it to clay board and play with it. For the uninitiated this is a Big Daddy and Little Sister from Bioshock, which is a videogame I'm rather fond of.

More work behind the cut )

Also more page layouts on The Project

Do not go looking for Weekly Scribble 43 - it doesn't exist. I did a fair amount of art at the con, which promptly went on to the nice folks who paid me to draw it. The rest of what I drew last week wasn't worth much. I fail at this art post thing.

Not much to post this week really either. I've been a horrible lazy person, been working on a crazy chain necklace, failing at job hunting, and playing videogames. Echo Bazaar is my time killer of choice with a bargain bin copy Assassin's Creed as close second. I'll go into detail at some point why I actually rate a free browser game over Ubisoft's historical masterpiece, probably next time I have issues with AC (for the zillionth time).

Anyways on to the art post.

Enh Echo Bazaar related doodles. The woman in the hat is how I vaguely imagine my Echo Bazaar lady to look (the bowler hat was a gift from my Mysterious Benefactor) and the show girl was idly drawn during an investigation concerning a devil and showgirl.

And Project related - here is Spider in one of his more melancholy moods.

Oh yes, The Project has some update on the page layout department. Though its slow going, I keep redoing and rethinking this damn action scene. I might skip ahead to something easier to help get my self confidence regarding this project going again.

And now Lissa toddles towards bed, the time change plus my sinus problems are starting to catch up with me.

Okay small post this week, been busy with con prep/organization and pseudo nervous break downs. My random sketch pages are not worth sharing so have some odd somewhat more focused doodles.

Not sure who this person is, I just doodled this for brush pen practice.

and one more behind the cut )

Once again a reminder, for those in the Houston area I will be at Oni-Con. I'll be in the Artist Alley sharing a table with friends. So if you can drop on by, say hello, I'll be the red head in the bowler hat and goggles.

Well slightly late art post this week. I've been busy working on other things. I can actually admit to some of it at the moment though. The rest is personal crap I'm not going to get into.

The stuff I can admit to is I am, as far as I know right now, going to be at Oni-Con 2010. I'm sharing a table with a friend of mine so I'll have limited selection of items, but I will be there. This is kinda a big deal since this is the first time I've been to or worked Oni-Con since 2005. Here's hoping time and experience makes it a better experience than the last time round.

Ok, for those of you who care The Project has more page layout updates. It is incomprehensible as per usual, but there is progress, slow slow progress. I do think I am getting the hang of this stage at least. I will be so happy when this action sequence is over. I might actually make this stuff done by my deadline of next A-kon.

Alright now on to art posty things. Have some odd emblem things I am working on for stuff I'm not going to explain yet, some of this is comic related (at least the design) some of it is future product related.
Alright, thats all for this week. I've been rather lazy, spinning my wheels, watching horrible movies, and being angry at things beyond my power.

Oh yea, I almost forgot, Happy Talk Like a Pirate Day. Y'aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaar

Alright, another week, another art post.

Not much to report, went job hunting with a friend, and ended up spending money I shouldn't have on comics. Though I did manage to keep my spending under twenty bucks (JUST) so thats at least a vague accomplishment.

Ok, so lots of WIP stuff this week. Theres been more page updates on The Project I hope after this particular scene the page layouts will go faster. Though I do think I am rather slowly getting the hang of this.

Now on this blog:

Not much to report here. Sometime this weekend me and some friends are getting together and having a Satoshi Kon marathon as a bit of a memorial. I've been hunting for jobs, learning to make chain mail jewelry and working on the The Project.

There actually has been page layout progress on The Project, its however posted to It's Own Blog. For various reasons most direct comic progress will now be posted over there.

So here's this week's artpost.

I promise there are no more octopi after the cut )

Not much else to say, I'm going to go back to goofing off now.

Sorry for the late late art post, I was hoping to have something nicer to show this week and...the magic just wasn't there. Ah well, a few things I'm kicking around at the moment. I also had posted this on the dreamwidth journal hours ago and was waiting for the cross posting to kick in. Since it hasn't I'm taking matters into my own hands and posting this now. I will probably have to delete a double post in a day or two.

No preview image this week, many apologies )
