lissa_quonWell I finally got around to seeing the Adult Swim Friday Night webstream. So I got my dose of Venture Bros. and got some of my random trivia straightened out.
Thank you Venture Bros. your Holiday Special not only entertained me and featured Dr Orpehus (who in the the hour or so I've heard of him, love) but also informed me I had Black Peter and Krumpus mixed up.
Black Peter is from Holland and acted like Santa's little black slave. A bit politically incorrect and sometimes known in places around the Black Forest as Ruphrecht from who leaves presents in shoes for good kids and threatens the bad kids with a switch.
But this leads us up to Krumpus, or Krampus from the area of Austria and Germany*. The demon that works with Santa, traveling around with him on Christmas Eve and essentially doing the same job as Black Peter, except probably smelling of brimstone and brandishing a foot long tongue at the local women. Also with the added threat of if you are too awful you will be stuffed in a barrel on his back and taken back to Hell with him.
I definately think we need to import this guy here to America, cause damn, I'm a firm beleiver in scaring the shit outta kids to make them behave. Then again I'm the sort of person who read the original fairytales with all the death and guts in it when I was little.
Anyways, many apologies to those who already knew of this info or if I slaughter it. I find it amusing and do really wish we could bring some of the old ways back. I'm pretty sure that I wouldn't be a brat as a kid if threats of demons and hell were mentioned.

* Sometimes I think I'm a bit too morbid or twisted for my own good. Then I look at the fact that a big chunk of my family tree is from Germany and the rest is Britian-ish area and realize it's probably all genetic.
