So my immune system is not as good as I had previously thought it.

Rather than fighting off con-crud and not getting the strange bronchitis mix my mother has my immune system has decided to pick and choose symptoms and I seem to have developed some sort of "walking crud" if you will.

I really don't feel any sicker than if my sinus' had revolted (which they do often) except for a slight temperature with the sensation of my head being not quite right. This is actually worse than normal crud where I just sleep it off till I feel better because I don't actually feel BAD, so I still feel stir crazy and have the urge to go places and do things rather than stay in bed.

So I'm sitting here killing time until my sleeping pills kick in.

Before my temperature rose I did manage to get to a book store and buy some comics with some of my con profits. I picked up the Clover omnibus and the latest Courtney Crumrin and was very happy with both.

Clover is a manga done by all female manga super-team CLAMP, back before they started cloning their cast from Card Captor Sakura and patting themselves on the back so hard their arms would break. (I'm not upset about Tsubasa I just feel they can do better and have proven multiple times they can and are just phoning it in now).

Written in the late 90's Clover was a cyberpunk comic that seems fairly basic in plot and reads like an art house film. There is little to no rampant exposition and the reader is just plunked down into the middle of a different world with strange military, politics, and psychics and pretty much have to determine what exactly is going on.

The result? Well mileage may vary but when I was younger and Tokyopop printed in here in the states I was impressed. The binding of the book was impressive, with translucent dust covers and metallic inks that we rarely see here used for the covers. This was back in the day when mangas cost about 15 to 20 dollars a book and this one was worth every penny of it.

But the cost of manga being what it was and the damn things being difficult to find (this was before bookstores started carrying the things) I never got to finish the series before they went out of print and Tokyopop never reprinted and left the series to the dust where Dark Horse has stepped in and revived it.

The Clover omnibus contains all four volumes in the (as yet unfinished) series in one large volume for the price of two normal manga now. However the production costs are still quite fantastic, the metallic inks have returned for the cover and each volume section is seperated by a color page and illustration. While I do miss the superfluous dust jacket the first printing had I'm perfectly willing to trade it for the rather large gallery of color art in the back of the book. These were items Tokyopop ignored and had only printed in a large collection of CLAMP's art a couple years ago and not since.

So all in all, it is wonderful for me to finally get more of the story even as it is unfinished and Dark Horse did an excellent job releasing this. I probably couldn't ask for a better release or treatment of this series. So kudos whoever out there put this together I am very impressed and am glad to have purchased this.

Well now my sleeping pills are kicking in so now I go off to hopefully sleep and get rid of this crud. I will probably ramble on about Courtney Crumrin comics later so later folks.
