Sep. 14th, 2008 05:24 pmSo Hurricane Ike has blown through here and left its mark on the area. All my family and friends' familes are fine with minimal damage to them and their property. Most everyone I know has no power but are otherwise fine.
Houston itself was hit pretty hard as was Galveston. Huntsville got out somewhat better but there is still alot of damage and everyone in the county has an enforced curfew they have to follow. That plus the wristbands the university makes us wear if we are staying on campus gives one the odd feeling we are in a police state. But we expect everything to return to normal at least by Tuesday. Classes however are canceled until Wenesday so I have got plenty of time on my hands to shirk on homework.
The eternal slumber party continues down stairs though everyone's movie collection seems to have worn out their welcome and there is now a very long session of Guitar Hero going on. The slumber party mood was increased for me and the roomie when the fire alarms downstairs decided to set off their emergency power alarms. Our room is far enough away it doesn't bother us but we had a friend downstairs who crashed on our floor to get away from the noise. The result was none of us really slept and instead gossiped about geek stuff till about five in the morning.
Though this has surreal amount of doing nothing is getting old, I do beleive I will be grateful when we are back at normal activities.
