Well the art block seems to be done with. Now I've just got lots of apathy towards my Drawing homework that causes issues. I'm sick of putting together collages and drawing them.

My sort of limbo state of where I'm going to school next fall makes most of my class work feel like I'm just grinding my wheels and doing nothing. So I've been avoiding looking my class work in the eye and been doing work for ME. It feels rather nice to do nuts and draw something cause I felt like it. It also feels good to get back to my convention work, since that is actually working towards a goal.

So this brings me to the main point of my post. The first real art post in a while.

First up - A skeleton cross walk Screenprint for class. I had lots of fun putting the image together, this was the first time I got Illustrator to do something I wanted it to with little hassle. I love the look of the final project and everyone seemed to like it at critque. So this one is a general warm fuzzy puppy sort of thing for me right now.

Second - A rather messy sketch of Kali This needs major cleaning up if I want to do anything serious with it. This is the image in middle of inking, my rough lines are still visible and I had fun drawing it and some of m class mates thought I was warped for this. Good times all around I guess. Should probably go without saying but Kali is NSFW - gore, blood, and blue boobs.

Oh it seems I forgot to post the main announcement.

FOOLISH MORTAL HAS TABLE CONFIRMATION AND I WILL BE AT A-KON 18.

Not sure who else besides me will be working the table but I will be there. I'm going to be between Fireball and some dude named Vince Price. I'll give the exact location when the event is closer.

Hoo boy, I LOVE LOVE LOVE when the conservative right wing goes so far right it comes around the other side and makes me look patriotic by comparison. No actually I don't it disgusts and confuses me at the same.

The reason for this realization about myself is this article courtesy of my school newspaper.

In case the links changes, here's the deal; a group of protestors from a Baptist church in Kansas traveled all the way here to Norman to protest a soldier's funeral. They were not protesting the fact that a life was lost for no real good reason (my opinion anywyay.) No. They were more CELEBRATING the fact the fact a soldier died.

Celebrating because apparently America is tolerant of homoesexuals (news to me btw), and in this tolerance they have pissed off God. Because to quote them "God hates fags", you can go to their site at godhatesfags.com and read all their dreck opinions (I'm not linking it here cause I don't want that kinda of filth on my machine or lj.)

So the protest consisted of them the group of them tromping on the american flag singing about how God's soldiers are marching into hell and how America is doomed and my personal favorite God is laughing at our dead. There are photos with the article for those who can stomach it. One of the protesters explained his actions as “All we are trying to do is spread God’s word.”

Yeah of course. < air quotes> Spread God's word < /air quotes> by interuppting a PRIVATE FUNERAL for someone YOU DIDN'T KNOW and causing those mourning more heartache cause your singing about their loved one marching off to HELL. Stop putting words in God's mouth KAY THNX.

Last I checked "God so loved the world..." and all that. LOVED, not hated. But then again I'm a rather lazy Christian, I haven't burned any crosses in someone's front yard in ages and the last time I met a homosexual person I think I admired his printmaking project rather than spitting on him. So what do I know?

EDIT: I was so mad I forgot to mention the other side of the coin in this situation; the Patriot Guard Riders. These guys are a group of bikers that follow the protesters around and in their own words "...generate a physical and sound barrier between those people and the families who are in mourning...." They revved their engines to drown out the 'church' group's songs and chants. I've never had any beef with bikers most I've met are awesome and more down to earth than most 'average' people. This just serves as another example of how cool some of them can be.

So I'm sorry I forgot to mention you guys, Patriot Gaurd Riders if you can read this: I salute you.
