ARGH...FUCK...DAMN

lissa_quonWell, my cold expanded into a sore throat that defied all reason. I'd breathe and it hurt, I'd yawn and it hurt, drink water and it'd hurt, lay down and it hurt. Not amount of throat numbing shit could help this.
I was only a tad worried since my throat does this sort of thing quite often when I'm sick. I think its trying to win the Nobel Prize for micro-biology. The first time a doctor peers down ones throat and exclaims 'your throat...looks raw, kinda like raw meat!' is a pretty eye opening experience.
By now my throat's managed to evolve cultures of pain inducing crud that allows me to talk with no more pain then I'd get simply breathing or attempting to eat something.So thats one thing to be thankful for, I can still yell at the cats and demand food or meds.
Anyways, ranting about new frontiers in the world of science aside. My other cold symptoms had cleared up or receded a bit. My throat however only got worse, to the point of my ears hurting when I swallowed and my throat generally aching when I breathed. So I skipped class today (and a math test that I was not/am not ready for) and went to the doctor.
The diagnosis, my throat looked pretty red, nothing medical journal worthy, prescription: the same antibiotics I've aways been given and some gum or hard candies (or lozenges, but I've already had plenty of those) to keep the throat moist.
Yipee, and here I was hoping for a valid excuse for all that pain, like tonsillitis or something dramatic. Cause dammit, if its going to keep me up at night I at least want it to be something worthwhile.
Ah well, now to take my antibiotics, grab my bag of jolly ranchers and try to head toward bed. Regardless of how I feel, I cannot miss my lecture classes tomorrow.
Thursday night I swear, I'm gonna dose myself with a Red Dwarf fest, followed by Hellboy and a Johny Depp-a-thon. This has been a pretty shitty two weeks.
