Lets try this again...The State of Lissa Address

Ok, so recent outbursts aside I am doing pretty well.

• Not quitting job like I had decided for about a half day. Need the job and the money to cover my textbook expenses and such. Maybe if I don't bow and scrape to them they'll give me a bit of a break.
• My jaw is almost normal now. The swelling and such was due to an infection. Some strong antibiotics have knocked it down a peg and I'm doing much better. My stitches have started to dissolve, this makes me feel a bit more normal and at peace.
• Classes are crazy. But I think with abit of adjusting and such I should do alright. And also words with some creepy guy to make sure he leaves me the hell alone.

Ok, now the art ramble. I've been doing mainly fanart pieces and not really enjoying it. I don't follow many popular shows, in fact I follow no popular shows. I've been doing art for things I don't care for that much (besides the FLCL one, that was just difficult) and having no fun.

So I'm going to do do a few minor original pieces along with less complex fanart pieces to keep production going but still stay sane and maybe enjoy myself.

I've  been shirking on practice,  I haven't been taking any art classes so there was no growth or experimenting. I was just stagnating in my little comfort zone.But with classes starting up I now have gaps between classes or lulls in lectures that allow me doodle with no feeling of comitment, plus daily access to the library so get some refs to play around with abit. So look for more sketch posts and more male figures and such. In fact, nag me if I end up not doing sketch posts, seriously...NAG ME.

Also been abit wrung out creatively, so I'm trying to play with some new things and stock up on some new inspiration. That means I scour the public library system for bizarre movies and books and I get ahold of new music.

Right now I'm in more of an Edward Gorey/Gothic Lolita/Lemony Snicket mood. So audio recordings of Poe, music by Rasputina and more goth-y bands (Danny Elfman soundtracks and maybe the Unfortunate Events one are crucial) and print outs of the Lolita Bible are my current quest. I think I can do a few small pieces of this and learn try some new techniques out. Plus I see a Vincent Price marathon in my  future.

I feel rather excited about this,  how this is going. I've even done a pretty damn good piece of cross hatching late late night. So I hope this will be fun, I'm having fun so far.
