So...the Oscars

yea almost every year I make a point to watch the damn thing. Though, while everyone else is sitting around making betting pools over who is going win for best acting or directing, I'm sitting there biting my nails for the Art Directing, Costumes, Make-up, Visual Effects and Animation awards. Make of this what you will, I am not ashamed.
Sadly this year I've been buried under a pile of papers and artwork and haven't seen like ANY of the films that were nominated besides Penguins, Brokeback Mountain and King Kong. So my interest in the proceedings faded after the Visual Effects and Animation and I switched back and forth between the Oscars and an encore broadcast of Terry Gilliam's Monty Python animations. Made for a surreal viewing experience, that.
So my reactions-
Best Documentary: figured, nothing more charismatic than a baby penguin
Cinematography: hmm, not too suprised there, that was some damn pretty footage there in Memoirs of a Geisha, so pretty I want to watch it
Visual Effects: huh, Kong, not to suprised there either
Best Song: WTF? Pimps? buh? That song for some reason just annoyed me, it was almost the song that made me punch babies. Also...couldn't the rappers at least taken the time to dress up abit? I mean dude, I swear those guys had to have platinum teeth or something, so they could afford to at least rent a tux.
Animation: Definately suprised, was expecting Miyazaki to take it, but I'm glad for Aardman. Though frankly this year I would be happy with any of the nominations for animation, I was getting sick of the flood of digital shit.
Best Picture: huh? Crash? I know I'm practically a shut in right now but I've never heard of this movie. So I'm definately floored on this one.
Anyways, off to figure out my design project and sleep.
