Well I am now back in town from my whirlwind road trip.
I went to Oklahoma for various reasons, some of them family, and some of them strictly selfish. The trip was a success on all fronts. Handled the family things, got to visit the various places in Norman I miss, got to hang out with my sister and her husband. I also got to see Flogging Molly in concert, which was awesome beyond reason. I've missed so many concerts in the last year or so I was glad to finally get to catch one.
Flogging Molly has also been a band I've been a fan of since high school so I'm rather glad that I did manage to catch this one out of all the rest. The concert venue was small and crowded, it was just one room with beer vendors on the sides and a stage at one end the room. I spent most of the time towards the front of the crowd not quite crushed like a sardine - the energy of the crowd was insane - though that also might have been gallons upon gallons of beer that everyone was drinking and throwing around. Everyone was energetic for the opening bands and then when Flogging Molly started - the room just exploded. Which I suppose is usual for a concert - though I think this is the first concert I went to where everyone sang along with every single song without prompting.
Anyways awesome concert - I will admit to jumping around and screaming/shouting like an idiot. I have no regrets.
And now I shall go off to shower and to fall into bed and rejoice that I don't have to get back in my car. I feel like I've lived in it all week. I can also go back to drawing and working on my various projects. But now, sleep, sweet sweet sleep.
