Guess what movie Lissa saw this weekend.

Well - at least me and the muse compromised. The Muse wanted mermaids and I wanted to try to get back in the swing of things to get The Project up and running again. So Tannis and Spider get to come down to the oceans and meet a mermaid. Thankfully Tannis seems too distracted to wonder where the hell all this water came from.

For the record, no, The Project will not have mermaids in it, there are no large bodies of water in the skies to house them. I think it's better for all involved, I sort of need Tannis alive to have wacky adventures.

fff oh look at you drawing mermaids (your's are scarier than the ones in the movie) They were sotra weird (fangs and all) I liked the song they sang but other than that good times. Guess this is a little hello from me then.

well hello back

Aw thanks, though how are mine scarier?

Yea, I had some issues with the mermaid designs. I wasn't really fond of their vampire fangs, and personally felt they could have nudged them to look a bit more unearthly/creepy. Gemma Ward worked rather well for that but some of the rest, not so much.

I liked the song and how the scene was done, just not the look of them.

Well like you said being a little more unearthly/creepy is better, they were well...too human looking, your's in kinda pale and her skin is different, I like her hair a lot (looks like sea weeds)I think they did alright in the movie, the fangs were odd though, guess they were trying to make them scary and went for the usual 'lets give them big scary teeth' route.

If they wanted to make them scary they could have gone with something more fish like. Like piranha or shark teeth. They could have done that so it was subtle or didn't become apparent until they were ready to strike. The vampire fangs kinda killed it.

Though I'm picky. I've discovered I have some strange built in standards when judging mermaids. Not sure when that happened.

True they could have given them teeth like that deep sea fish with the little bobbing light on its head (its name eludes me) though the vampire mermaids did make me lol a bit.

You are full of strange built in standards it seems my dear.

Ah, angler fish. Yea, some of those might work, though majority of them are like a dentist's nightmare. (One of Liss'a favorite books as a child was a giant compendium of weird fish and predators of the deep.)

What can I say? I'm just special that way.
